Memorial services for Belinda Gesell Sturgis, 59, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Larry Wofford officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home. Mrs. Sturgis was born November 10, 1957 in Lufkin, Texas to Clarice (Johnson) Caldwell and the late Walter Caldwell, and died Wednesday, March 8, 2017 in a local hospital. Mrs. Sturgis was a homemaker and had resided in Pineland, prior to living in Lufkin the past 40 years. Survivors include her husband, Calvin Sturgis of Lufkin; sons, J. L. Skinner, Jr. and wife Tonya of Jacksonville, Florida and Desmond Sturgis of San Angelo; birth mother, Clarice Caldwell of Lufkin; sisters, Janice Thomas of Diboll, Re’Shonda Thomas of Maryland, Valarie Caldwell, Beverly Caldwell, and Latrice Caldwell Williams, all of Lufkin; brothers, Barry Caldwell of Houston and Tony Caldwell of Lufkin; and a wealth of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, Charlie and I.B. Thomas; father, Walter Caldwell; son, Christopher Thomas; daughter, Crystal Thomas; and grandson, Jase Gross.
