Mollie Jane Herrington

Funeral services for Mollie Jane Snider Herrington, 68, of Tyler will be held Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Martin Doran and Brother David Hicks officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mollie passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017, at her home in Tyler after a lengthy battle with brain cancer. She was born May 10, 1948, in Lufkin to Charles P. and Orba Mae Wilder Snider. She graduated from Central High School in 1966 and married Boozer Herrington on June 1, 1968, in Pollok. They moved to Beaumont in 1970 and were later transferred to Houston in 1978, settling in Spring.

Mollie loved being a wife, mother and grandmother and volunteering in many activities which included being an election judge. She also enjoyed live music and traveling with family and friends, especially her trips to France and Switzerland, Colorado and Taos, New Mexico. She also enjoyed taking classes at North Harris Community College, Sam Houston State University and Texas A&M University.

She was an avid supporter of the Republican Party, serving in leadership roles in the Pathfinders Republican Women’s Club in Montgomery County and in Smith County Republican Women after moving to Tyler in 2000. She was named Volunteer of the Year for 1996 by the Montgomery County Republican Party. She was also a member of the Texas Federation of Republican Women, holding the offices of district director and deputy president. Mollie was a member of the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary of Tyler and the Bethesda Alliance.
Mollie was a member of the Baptist church. She will be remembered for her loving, kind and generous spirit.

She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father, Clyde R. Bates; brothers, Cecil, Ray, Bill and Jerry Snider; and sisters Elnora Lyles and Dorothy Reppond.

Survivors include her husband, Boozer of Tyler; son, John B. Herrington of Dallas; daughter, Holly McClaren and husband Clint and twin granddaughters, Rachel and Sarah McClaren of Oak Ridge North; sisters, Patti Harris and Mary Dell Baird of Lufkin; Doris Merrill and husband Frank of Pasadena; brother Marion “Doc” Snider and wife Rita of Houston; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of family and wonderful friends.

The family gives special thanks to Heart to Heart Hospice of Tyler for the outstanding care Mollie received from Brandi Feil, CNA; Kaci Brown, RN; and David Hicks, chaplain.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon prior to the services at the funeral home.
