Mrs. Hayes lived in Lufkin her whole life and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and loyal friend to so many. She was a woman of strong faith and a member of Keltys’ Baptist Church where she played the piano for many years. She was known as “Kakie” by all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and she holds a special place in each of their hearts. More than anything, she always loved to be surrounded by her family. She is survived by her three children: son, Paul Rayburn Hayes and Jan Bradburn Hayes of Clovis, New Mexico; son, Keith Edwin Hayes of Anchorage, Alaska; and daughter, Amanda Kay Matchett and husband Wendell Matchett of Lufkin; her grandchildren, Todd Hayes, Jennifer Burdick and husband Shawn, Lacey Hayes, Hunter Hayes, Holly Williams and husband Matt, Amber Pavlic and husband Chase, Ashley Pigg and husband Corey, and Misty Zeleskey and husband Josh; great grandchildren, Brittney, Connor, Zoie, Zia, Clark, Avery, Abby, Emma, Ashlee, Aidan, Jackson, Hannah, Halli, Tripp, and Hayes; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Mrs. Hayes was preceded in death by her husband, Rayburn Doyle Hayes; her parents; and her brother and sister. Pallbearers will be Todd Hayes, Chase Pavlic, Corey Pigg, Josh Zeleskey, Jimmy Brooks, and Connor Hayes. The family would like to thank the caring staff of Larkspur and Hospice in the Pines for making her final days more peaceful. They would also like to extend gratitude to Dr. Jansen Todd for his devoted and enduring care for Mrs. Hayes. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mrs. Hayes’ honor may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Ave., Lufkin, Texas 75904.
