T. Tucker Weems

Funeral services for T. Tucker Weems, 84, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mark Newton officiating. Private interment will follow.

Mr. Weems was born December 7, 1932 in Nacogdoches, Texas to the late Odell (Crawford) and Thomas Wesley Weems, and died Saturday, February 25, 2017 in a local hospital.

Mr. Weems was a 1950 graduate of Nacogdoches High School and was honored as a distinguished alumni in 2003. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea and Japan. Mr. Weems received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Stephen F. Austin State University. After graduating he joined the accounting firm of Axley & Rode, LLP, and served as managing partner from April 1979 to December 1987.

Mr. Weems served on several boards including The Salvation Army, Industrial Foundation, Hospice in the Pines, Kurth Memorial Library, and Lufkin Coca-Cola Bottling Co. He served as Lufkin City Councilman for Ward 6 for seven years. He was a member of the Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669 A.F. & A.M., the SPJST Lodge 191, and was an Arabia Temple Shriner. Mr. Weems was a member of the Barnabas Sunday School class at First Baptist Church Lufkin.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Patsy Linthicum Weems of Lufkin; nephews, Loarn Weems and wife Donna of Henderson and Randy Fancher and wife Sherry of Woden; nieces, Rhonda Montes and husband Bennett of Nacogdoches, Sheila Cousins and husband Robert, Jan Fancher, all of Martinsville, Janet Warren of Houston, and Marjorie Moore of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; God-daughters, Kim Yarborough Ball, Leslie Medley Cuzick, and Jennifer Jordan; and numerous other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Lezlie Susan Weems; brothers, Buford Weems and Loarn Weems; and sisters, Katie Belle Meador and Inez Miles.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Simpson, Ray Jayroe, Bill Woodward, David Walker, Charles Yarborough, current and former partners of Axley & Rode, LLP, and The Group Therapy Club.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Lufkin, 106 E. Bremond Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75901, or Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Street, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
