Louie Hulsman

March 25, 1936 — February 23, 2017

Funeral services with military honors for Louie Hulsman, 80, of Lufkin will be held Monday, February 27, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park with Brother Charles M. Roberts officiating.

Mr. Hulsman was born March 25, 1936 in Roseland, Arkansas to the late Martha Edna (Thomas) and Harry Martin Hulsman, and died Thursday, February 23, 2017 in a local hospice facility.

Mr. Hulsman had resided in Lufkin since the early 1980s after serving in the U.S. Air Force for over 20 years, including the Vietnam Era. He also retired from Sears as Warehouse Manager. He loved fishing and hunting and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.

Survivors include his brothers and sisters-in-law, Howard and Debbie Hulsman of Livingston and Clifford and Dee Hulsman of Dallas; sisters, Marcella DePriest and Alma Cartwright, both of Abilene; nieces, Donna Tubbs and husband Michael, Christy Hulsman, all of Lufkin, Krista Hulsman of Dallas, Pam Hulsman, Karen Hulsman, Edward Ann Hulsman, all of Memphis, Tennessee, Stacy Castellaw Still and husband Ray of Oakland, Tennessee, Christy Castellaw Clausel of Middletown, Tennessee, Dana Castellaw of Brownsville, Tennessee, and Ashley Stanley of Memphis, Tennessee; nephew, Jerry DePriest and wife Jody of Abilene; and a number of other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Gwen Lovett Hulsman and Donna Jayne Allen Hulsman; sisters, Mildred Loftus and Muriel Blalock; and brother, Sonny Hulsman.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
