Curtis Ray Hinson

Funeral services for Curtis Ray Hinson, 73, of the Saron Community will be held Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Brother Lynn Singleton, Belton Wayne Havard, and J.O. Grimes, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Cameron Cemetery.

Mr. Hinson was born December 22, 1943 in Jasper, Texas to the late Vertis (Byerly) and Joe Hinson, and died Wednesday, February 22, 2017 in a Houston hospital.

Mr. Hinson had resided in the Saron Community for 39 years. He retired from Lufkin Industries following 23 years of employment as a welder. He enjoyed hunting and mowing, and loved antiquing. Mr. Hinson was a member of Saron Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Geneva Hinson of Saron; sister, Dorothy McShan of Buna; stepfather, Randy YBarbo of Newton; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lizzie and Bee Boykin, Cardie and Stanley Mieth, and Betty and Joe Courtney, all of Saron; special nephew, Ethan Courtney of Saron; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Lumis.

Pallbearers will be Joey Courtney, Clifton Courtney, Gradon Courtney, Milton Grimes, Judge Havard, and Danny Havard.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ethan Courtney, Arlon Grimes, Lloyd Havard, and Jerry Cannon.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon prior to the services.
