Gary Van Thomas

Memorial services for Gary Van Thomas, 64, of Hudson will be held Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Frank Thompson officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home. Mr. Thomas was born April 1, 1952 in Lufkin, Texas to Margaret (Jones) Thomas and the late Buddy Van Thomas, and died Monday, February 20, 2017 at his residence. Mr. Thomas had resided in Hudson all of his life. He served in the United States Army and was an electrician and retired from Abitibi Paper Mill after 22 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his son, Jason D. Thomas and wife Lesley of Livingston; stepson, Sammy Hartnett and wife Regina of Lufkin, stepdaughters, Melissa Wright and husband Wayne of Livingston, and Amy Stringer and husband Bradley of Huntington; grandchildren, Matthew Thomas, Justin Wright, Randi Noseworthy, Chelsey Hartnett, Ashley Flowers, Krista Hartnett, Logan Morris, Adyson Stringer, Crusoe Stringer, and Mylie Stringer; mother, Margaret Thomas of Hudson; brother, Vernon Thomas and wife Sharon of Hudson; aunts, Bea Maddox and husband David of Palestine, Betty Thomas of Lufkin, Mildred Jones of Henderson, Nell Jones of Longview, and Marie Jones of Longview; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father and son, Brian Thomas. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning prior to the service at the funeral home.
