Virginia Richey

Funeral services for Virginia Richey, 89, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jerome Brimmage officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Nacogdoches County. Mrs. Richey was born February 21, 1927 in Port Arthur, Texas to the late Lucille (Lorato) and John Mannino, and died Saturday, February 4, 2017 in New Braunfels. Mrs. Richey had resided in Lufkin for the past 48 years and previously lived in Groves for 20 years. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Quilt Guild of the Pineywoods. She enjoyed her quilting very much and has left a legacy of her handmade quilts for her family. She cherished her time with her girlfriends in the Willow Bend Circle. Since 1968 they met for coffee every afternoon and solved all the neighborhood problems. Mrs. Richey was a member of Lufkin’s First United Methodist Church. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Roy Pelham of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Burlon (Bo) and Kathy Richey of New Braunfels; grandchildren, David Lyday, Amanda Wallace and husband Jimmy, Danyal Lyday and wife Dianna, Chris Seago and wife Andrea, and J.R. Seago and wife Brianna; 14 great-grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 43 years in 1991, B. O. “Snuffy” Richey; three brothers, Steve Mannino, Tony Mannino, and Dominic Mannino; and two sisters, Lena Whaley and Katie Parks.
