Roy K. Hope

Graveside services for Roy K. Hope, 75, of Pollok, will be held Monday, February 6, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. in the Pollok Cemetery with Brother Horace Fletcher officiating.

Mr. Hope was born September 19, 1941 in Pollok, Texas to the late Eura Mae (Martin) and Herbert Chester Hope. He died Thursday, February 2, 2017 in a Lufkin hospital.

Mr. Hope was a retired Lufkin firefighter, as well as being a preacher and a farmer. He served in the United States Army for six years during the Vietnam War. He was very proud of his military service and of being a member of the Big Red 1 Battalion. Mr. Hope was the recipient of a Vietnam Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He enjoyed woodworking, oil painting, gardening, playing the guitar, and being outside in nature and watching the birds. He was extremely caring, and shared his knowledge freely. He loved his family deeply.

Survivors include his sister, Theda Earl Craft of Pollok; niece and husband, Glenda and Ron Ulrich; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mr. Hope was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ruth Henderson and Ruby Fenley; and brothers, Hubert Hope, Chester Hope, George Hope, Bobby Ray Hope, and Jessie Carl Hope.

Pallbearers will be E.J. Knight, Ricky Ulrich, Justin May, Ronnie Ulrich, Paul Hope, George (Bubba) Hope and David Mitchmore.

Honorary pallbearers will be Olen Edwards, Ronald Ulrich, James Hope, and Randal Craft.

The family will receive friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Monday afternoon at the funeral home before going in procession to the cemetery.
