Funeral services for Louie Weldon Harvey, 82, of Lufkin will be held Friday, February 3, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Heritage Baptist Church with Brother Jim Housley officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mr. Harvey was born March 13, 1934 in San Augustine, Texas to the late Ruby Thelma (Wells) and Artis Hollis Harvey, and died Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at his residence.
Mr. Harvey served in the United States Army and Navy in the Korean War, and was a self-employed Barber for over forty years. He loved his family and his Lord. He founded and pastored the Angelina Baptist Church. He was a great man of God and would witness to anyone. He loved reading his Bible and if he wasn’t singing, he was whistling. He was a member of the Heritage Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Nancy Harvey of Lufkin; sons, John Harvey and wife Kathy, and Hollis Weldon Harvey, all of Lufkin; daughter, Cynthia Clary and husband Arnold of Lufkin; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Patricia Ann Anthony and husband Wayne of Nacogdoches, Nelda Sue Hillard of San Augustine, and Myrtle Parker of Nacogdoches; special sisters-in-law, Billie Phillips of Huntington and Brenda Harvey of Lufkin; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Artis Lynway Harvey; and sister, Carol Woods.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Bynum, Bubba Loggins, Ray Bradford, James Wilkerson, Ronnie Phillips, Mark Phillips, and Joey Murray.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
