Funeral services for Jason Dale Sammons, 35, of Frisco, formerly of Huntington, will be held Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Reverend Martin Doran and Reverend Bill Lanigan officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery. Jason was born November 16, 1981 in Lufkin, Texas, and died Friday, January 27, 2017 in Frisco. He was a 2000 graduate of Huntington High School, attended Stephen F. Austin State University, and was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Epsilon Omicron Chapter. He was a catastrophe insurance adjuster for E.A. Renfroe for eight years. Jason loved golfing, bowling, fishing, camping, and being there for family and friends. He had a big heart, a genuine smile, and never met a stranger. Jason was a member of First United Methodist Church of Huntington. Survivors include his wife, Leslie Sammons of Frisco; their beloved fur-baby, Winnie Boo Bear; parents, Ricky and Betty (Felice) Sammons of Huntington; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Linda and Randy Lawson of Nacogdoches, father-in-law, Larry Lloyd of Rusk; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Shane and Brandi Allen of Nacogdoches; appointed brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Katy Ellyn Hardison of Flower Mound; nephews, Mason Lloyd of Hemphill and Tanner DeGeer of Nacogdoches; niece, Maegan DeGeer of Nacogdoches; grandmother, Christine Woods of Lufkin; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and many friends who were like family. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bill and Orrin Felice; and aunt, Gwen Atteberry. Pallbearers will be Michael Hardison, Garrett Massie, Jacob Sapp, Jacob Davis, Justin Blackledge, B.J. Clement, Colin Friday, and Matt Wisch. Honorary pallbearers will be Bryan Foy, Keith Gee, Nick Mesora, Michael “M.J.” Johnson, Joseph Hovan, Shane Stover, Joseph Johnson, Daniel Pelton, Jared Short, Wolfgang Trout, Rey Dominguez, and the Pi Kappa Alpha Epsilon Omicron Chapter. Memorial contributions may be made to the Winnie Berry Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 472, Lufkin, Texas 75902. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
