James Ray Pyle

Funeral services for James Ray Pyle, 73, of Huntington will be held Sunday, January 29, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Kevin Wisener officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in the Gilbert Chapel Cemetery in Bald Hill.

Mr. Pyle was born December 31, 1943 in Groveton, Texas to Marie (Brock) Pyle and the late James Hershel Pyle, and died Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at his residence.

Mr. Pyle had resided in Huntington for the past 16 years and previously lived in Pasadena. He was a welder for 43 years in the Pipefitters Local Union #211. He faithfully served in the United States Army and was in Germany during the Vietnam War. Mr. Pyle was known as “PawPaw” to many with the National and Texas High School Rodeo family, Crimson Christian Academy, and the girls Comet basketball team. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and taught many youth about God’s great outdoors and everyday life. He was a Christian.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Pyle of Huntington; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Heather Pyle of Plantersville; daughter and son-in-law, Jerrie and Kevin Wisener of Lufkin; grandchildren, Colby Pyle of Plantersville, Sadie and Greg Goodwin of Wells, Kallie and Kyle Wilson, and Kadie Beth Wisener, all of Lufkin; great-grandchild, Hadlee Ray Goodwin of Wells; mother, Marie Pyle of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Shirley Pyle of Huntington; sister and brother-in-law, Jerri and Tommy Crawford of Ratcliff; sister-in-law, Beverly Pyle of Kennard; brother-in-law, Rayford Quine of Ratcliff; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father; brother, Donald Rex Pyle, and sister, Glenda Ann Quine.

Pallbearers will be Mike Ener, Ronny Finke, Lynn Erwin, Brian Page, Roy French, and Jimmy Wankan.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Pipefitters Local Union #211.

Memorial contributions may be made to Crimson Christian Academy, P.O. Box 1027, Lufkin, Texas, 75902.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
