Narleta Bell Ward

Funeral services for Narleta Bell Ward, 96, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend E. W. Hancock, Reverend Ronnie Shipman, and Reverend M. Kelly Ward officiating. Entombment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park Last Supper Mausoleum. Mrs. Ward was born March 31, 1920 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin to the late Emma (Schirrmacher) and Edgar Dake, and died Thursday, January 19, 2017 in Lufkin. Mrs. Ward was a member of the Springhill Assembly of God and was a pastor’s wife. To most she was known as “Mama Ward”. She continued to minister to everyone she met through Sunday School, Senior’s Ministry, and also visitations to the sick and elderly. She lead a life of servanthood and always joyed in being a blessing to others. Survivors include her son, Leonard Ward of Lufkin; grandsons, Martin Kelly Ward and wife Alisa (Alford) of Springfield, Missouri, Michael Kenyon Ward and wife Melanie (Beggs) of Tyler; granddaughter, Robin Chandra (Ward) Afshar and husband Mohammad of North Zulch; great-grandchildren, Micah Kent Ward of Austin, Melanie Elizabeth Ward, Noah Ashton Ward, Christopher Jayden Ward, all of Springfield, Missouri, Wali Bellton Afshar, Abram Hammad Afshar, AnnaBella-Grace Parveen Afshar, all of North Zulch; great-great-grandchildren, Thomas Ward, Micayla Ward, and Morgan Ward, all of Bolivar, Missouri; and numerous other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Reverend Harold Lloyd Ward in 1982; and grandson, Matthew Kensington Ward. Pallbearers will be Noah Ward, George Trego, Greg McClure, and Tommy Howard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mrs. Ward’s great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Sole Mission, 2037 S. Hillcrest, Springfield, Missouri, 65807. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
