Russell Raymond Monroe

Funeral services for Russell Raymond Monroe, 61, of Lufkin will be held Friday, January 20, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Lewis Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Ellis Prairie Cemetery in the Friday Community of Trinity County.           Mr. Monroe was born June 23, 1955 in Alice, Texas to Delores (Bauch) and Raymond Monroe, and died Sunday, January 15, 2017 in a local hospital.           Mr. Monroe resided in Lufkin most of his life. He was employed with Champion Paper Mill for 15 years and Universal Plant Services for eight years. Mr. Monroe enjoyed watching Nascar and the Dallas Cowboys, hunting and fishing, riding motorcycles, and spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Monroe was very patriotic. He loved this country and he loved Texas. He was a member of the Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669 A.F. & A.M., and a member of Groveton First Baptist Church.           Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Monroe of Lufkin; daughter, Amber Monroe of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Jessica Monroe of Deer Park; grandchildren, Alexis Wagoner, Kole Wagoner, Kendra Monroe, all of Lufkin, Serenity Monroe, Luke Monroe, Ethan Daughtry, and Jay Smith, all of Deer Park; great-granddaughter, Yvonne Ferman of Lufkin; parents, Delores and Raymond Monroe of Lovelady; sister, Becky Monroe of Lovelady; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.           He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James Ivan and Minnie (White) Monroe, Ernst and Alma (Schmidt) Bauch.           Pallbearers will be Mike West, Paul Kome, Gary Darnell, Mike Martin, Jonathon Monroe, Kole Wagoner, Billy Garrett, and Devin Randall.           Honorary pallbearer will be Kevin Ferman.           Memorial contributions may be made to Groveton First Baptist Church, P.O.
