Aileen (Norris) Shives

Funeral services for Doris Aileen (Norris) Shives, 89, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Cary Modisett and Kevin Shives officiating. Interment will follow in the Zavalla Cemetery.

Mrs. Shives was born October 26, 1927 in Black Jack, Texas to the late Viola (Todd) and Larce Wesley Norris, and died Sunday, January 15, 2017 in a local nursing home.

A resident of Zavalla most of her life, Mrs. Shives had resided in Lufkin since 2005. She was a franchise owner of multiple H&R Block offices over a 25 year period. Mrs. Shives was a volunteer for the Angelina County Chamber of Commerce, and was active at First Baptist Church of Zavalla before moving to Lufkin. She was currently a member of Denman Avenue Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Sharon K. Coleman and husband Dwan, and Barbara Przestwor, all of Lufkin; sons, Willie Michael Shives of Zavalla and Kevin Shives and wife Paty of Sunnyvale, California; grandchildren, Brandan Lovell and wife Toni of Lufkin, Dwana Waltman and husband Judson of Spring, Amber Morgan and husband Derrick of Poplarville, Mississippi, and Sgt. Michael Shives, USAF of Omaha, Nebraska; great-grandchildren, Colby Lovell, Colton Lovell, both of Corrigan, Jackson Waltman and Ellie Waltman, both of Spring; sister, Joy Quattlebaum of Huntington; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vivian Shives; brother, Gary Norris; sisters, Margie Russell and Effie Snowden; and son-in-law, Michael Przestwor.

Pallbearers will be Brandan Lovell, Sgt. Michael Shives, Colby Lovell, Colton Lovell and Jackson Waltman.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
