Bobby Glenn Allen, Sr.

Funeral services for Bobby Glenn Allen, Sr., 79, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, January 15, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Horace Fletcher and Pastor Dwayne Thornton officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery.

Mr. Allen was born April 11, 1937 in Polk County, Texas to the late Florence Vivian (Ashby) and William Albert Allen, and died Saturday, January 14, 2017 in a local hospital.

Mr. Allen resided in Lufkin most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army and National Guard, and retired from Lufkin Industries following 26 years of employment. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and woodworking in his shop. Mr. Allen was a member and deacon of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Gwen Allen of Lufkin; daughter, Libby Allen Burt and husband Bill of Lubbock; son, Glenn Allen, Jr. and wife Rhonda of Lufkin; stepdaughter, Sandra Johnson and husband Daniel of Lufkin; stepson, Jimmy Horton of Lufkin; stepdaughter, Renea Daniel of Dallas; stepson-in-law, John Galli of Dallas; stepdaughter-in-law, Jenny Horton of Lufkin; six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; sister, Margie Mathis of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maxene Delaney Allen; parents, Florence and William Allen; and seven sisters.

Pallbearers will be Michael Allen, Quinton McKnight, Jermy Allen, Brent Horton, Damon McGuire, and Eron Horton.

Honorary pallbearers will be B.G. Allen III, Paul Johnson, and Philip Johnson.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church, 2005 Ford Chapel Road, Lufkin, Texas 75901.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon prior to the services.
