Funeral services for Rita Kay Johnson, 60, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, January 15, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Elton Musick officiating. Interment will follow in the Berry Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson was born November 23, 1956 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Jessie Myrl (Bentley) and Paul Thompson, and passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017.
Mrs. Johnson was a lifetime resident of Lufkin. She was very devoted to her family, and she loved to cook. Mrs. Johnson was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, Marvin Johnson of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Bradley and Sandra Johnson of Laredo; daughter and son-in-law, Crystal and John Gillis of Dallas; grandchildren, Hanna Johnson, Ava Johnson, and Garrett Gillis; brothers, Larry Paul Thompson of Orange, Jimmy Thompson of Lufkin; Ronnie Thompson and wife Renee of Hudson, Michael Thompson, and Carl Dean Thompson, both of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Pallbearers will be Bradley Johnson, Seth Thompson, Zac Thompson, Justin Thompson, Taylor Thompson, and Brian Holt.
Honorary pallbearer will be Allen Clark.
