Lewis Hearl Hudson

Funeral services for Lewis Hearl Hudson, 82, of Lufkin will be held Friday, January 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mark Wilke officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Magnolia Cemetery in Woodville. Lewis Hudson was born November 26, 1934 in Woodville, Texas in the family home to the late Mary (Riley) and Lee Hudson, and died Sunday, January 1, 2017 in a local nursing home. Mr. Hudson grew up on the same property in Woodville where he was born and was very active in many school activities. He met his future wife Sandra as a Junior in high school. They were married July 25, 1953 in Marshall, Texas and celebrated 55 years of marriage. In 1974 Lewis became an agent with Farmers Insurance in Woodville until 1979 when he became a Farmers District Manager and moved to Lufkin, Texas. Lewis completed his entrepreneur career of 28 years with Farmers Insurance when retired in 2002. He had a very successful career with Farmers Insurance and was recognized with numerous achievements, awards and trips. He was a 50 year Mason with the Magnolia Masonic Lodge #495 in Woodville. A former resident of Woodville, Lewis had resided in Lufkin 38 years. Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Rocky and Ginger Hudson of Sugar Land and Kevin and Pam Hudson of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Tamara and Stephen Lewis of Lufkin; grandchildren, Brandon Hudson, Lauren Manley, Joshua Lewis, Alexis Pigg, Mylle Whigham, and Megan Hudson; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Lee Read; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hudson was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Joyce Hudson. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
