Memorial services for Colleen Nacoma Wilson, 87, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Judge Billy S. Ball officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home. Mrs. Wilson was born August 26, 1929 in Waco, Texas to the late Ruby (Ward) Stroud and William Clyde Stroud, and died Thursday, December 29, 2016 at her residence in Lufkin. Colleen was a secretary and skilled switchboard operator in her early working years in Waco and Dallas, Texas. Upon her retirement she moved with her husband Johnnie Wilson to Euless, Texas and then to Cedar Creek Lake, where they lived for 11 years before moving to Lufkin in 1999. Colleen enjoyed crocheting and was an avid gardener who loved her vegetable and flower gardens. She grew African Violets for more than twenty years and enjoyed working with family genealogy creating an extensive family tree. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Johnnie Miller Wilson; daughter, Beverly Ball, son-in-law, Billy Ball of Lufkin, their son Donny Ball, and great-granddaughter Kori Taylor Ball; sisters, Wilma Woolf of Abilene, Texas and Shirley Watson, of Lorena, Texas; brother, Jesse Cromwell and wife Deborah of Chicago, Illinois; and numerous nieces, nephews, and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, John William Ball; brother, Leon Stroud; and sister, Sandra Maxwell. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W.
