Funeral services for Maxine Stringer, 93, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park, with interment following the services. Brother Jerry Chandler will officiate.
Mrs. Stringer was born September 16, 1923 in Trinity County, Texas to the late Missouri (Goins) and Guide Nash, and died Sunday, December 18, 2016 in a local hospice facility.
Mrs. Stringer resided in Lufkin most of her life. She owned and operated Stringer Upholstery for more than 30 years. She enjoyed quilting and making porcelain dolls. Mrs. Stringer was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Burke Chapter No. 1098, and a member of Lakeview Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Waldron of Etoile; grandchildren, Damon and Lynn Waldron, Richard Waldron, Steven and Paula Waldron, David and Kim Winthrop, Kim and Wayne Smith, April and Michael McGrath; 18 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 61 years, Arvle W. Stringer; daughter, Annette Winthrop; son, Billy Stringer; grandson, Dean Winthrop; sisters, Bill Stringer, Robbie Stringer, Vivian Johns, Viva Hollis, and Lilly Townsend; brothers, Guy Nash and Clyde Nash; and son-in-law, Robert Waldron.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
