Marie Christopher

Funeral services for Marie Christopher, 90, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, December 11, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Brother Horace Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in the Gilbert Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Christopher was born January 29, 1926 in Angelina County, Texas to the late Evelyn (Trahan) and David Harrison Hopson, and died Thursday, December 8, 2016 in Lufkin.

Mrs. Christopher was born and raised in Lufkin. She and Mitchell moved to Houston for 30 years and then returned to Lufkin to settle and continue to raise their family, and resided here for the last 33 years. She was the sweetest lady you would ever want to meet and she is remembered for always being there for her family and friends. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly. She loved to work in her flower garden and enjoyed cooking. Mrs. Christopher enjoyed travelling with her husband, Mitchell, and sister, Vada Carrell. Her faithful companion was Blossom, her cat.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Philpott of Bald Hill; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Wanda Christopher of Bald Hill; son, Joe Christopher of Houston; grandchildren, David Christopher, Michael Philpott, Nicole Christopher, Chris Philpott and wife Melanie, Austin Philpott and wife Kyla, Andrew Christopher and wife Danielle, Amanda Wigley and husband Chaise; great grandchildren, Kierra Christopher, Zachariah Christopher, Lauren Holland, Drake Christopher, Ty Christopher, Trentin Christopher, Casey Philpott, Leah Philpott, Mitchell Philpott, William Mitchell Christopher, and Harper Elizabeth Wigley; sister, Vada Carrrell of Huntington; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 65 years, Mitchell Christopher in 2011; and daughter-in-law, Carolyn Christopher in 2014.

Pallbearers will be David Christopher, Michael Philpott, Chris Philpott, Austin Philpott, Andrew Christopher, and Drake Christopher.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
