Bobby Dale Hill

Funeral services for Bobby Dale Hill, 69, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Blackie Cranford officiating. Interment will follow in the Fielder Memorial Cemetery.

Bobby was born in Lufkin, Texas, on February 14, 1947, and passed away on November 26, 2016, in Lufkin after a brief illness. He was the oldest of six children born to Mildred and Maurice Hill. Bobby resided in Lufkin all of his life, graduated from Lufkin High School, attended Angelina College and was a member of Chestnut Drive Baptist Church.

Bobby served in the U. S. Army and was a Viet Nam veteran. After returning home from service to his country, he married the love of his life, Judy Ray on August 2, 1968 and they were married for 48 years. In 1968 he went to work for the local papermill. After the mill closed in 2003, he went to work for and retired from Lufkin Industries, Inc. Not being content with retirement, he was presently employed by LISD as a school bus driver.

Bobby liked to hunt and fish, camp and do wood work. He had a green thumb and could get anything to grow either in his yearly garden or in his yard. In 2010 and 2015, he gained three more loves in his life and became Poppy to identical twin granddaughters, Emma and Reese and baby Madelyn. These little girls became his priority as his ultimate joy was playing with them and making them happy. After the girls moved to Lufkin in 2015, he picked the twins up from school each day. He loved Texas A&M and was very proud of his Aggie architect daughter and son-in-law.

Survivors include his wife, Judy; daughter and son-in-law, Courtney and Jason Kelly of Lufkin; granddaughters, Emma Grace, Reese Olivia and Madelyn Renee’ Kelly, all of Lufkin; brothers, Dolen Hill of Lufkin and Jerry Ray Hill of Sweeny; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Shirley and Freddy Williamson of Lufkin; and sister-in-law, Mary Jean Lovejoy of Lufkin. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Maurice Hill; brothers, Stevie Hill and David Hill; sister, Cathay Hill; and in-laws, Gene and Louise Ray.

Pallbearers will be Dwight Richardson, Dennis Dickerson, Wayne Montes, Bobby Lovett, Lynn Anderson, and Tony Rawlinson.

Visitation with friends and family will be 6:00 - 8:00 pm Monday, November, 28, 2016 at Carroway Funeral Home.
