David Clinton Green

Funeral services for David Clinton Green, 91, of Lufkin will be held Monday, November 21, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Robert Jones and Brother John Hood officiating. Graveside services with military honors will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Gray Cemetery in Cherokee, San Saba County, Texas. Mr. Green was born January 30, 1925 in Brownwood, Texas to the late Verina Mae “Hazel” (Owings) and Ross Oscar Green, and died Friday, November 18, 2016 in a local hospital. Mr. Green had resided in Lufkin since 1990. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired from Joe L. Ward Co. in Waco. Mr. Green was a member of the V.F.W. Post 1836 in Lufkin, and was a member and deacon of Allentown Baptist Church. Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Carol Ross and Cecil Thompson, Iona and John Scarborough, all of Lufkin; grandchildren and spouses, Roland and Elva Chase, Bobby and Candida Chase, Russell “Rusty” Chase, Tonya Dininno and friend Randy Hinson, Byron and Charlotte Thompson, and Theresa Vaughn; 13 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Hazel Lutes of Waco; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his; wife of 60 years, Etta Green, in 2006; father in 1977; mother in 1979; brother, E.O. “Sonny” Green in 1993; and sisters, Donna Beck in 1995 and Rossy Hood in 2015. Pallbearers will be his great-grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be Roland Chase, Bobby Chase, Byron Thompson, Theresa Vaughn, Rusty Chase, and Tonya Dininno. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
