Doris Mccarty Tatum

Memorial services for Doris McCarty Tatum will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ Congregational Church. Doris was born on July 6, 1931 in Livingston, Texas to Gus and Vietra McCarty, and died on Monday, November 14, 2016 at the age of 85 in Lufkin, Texas. Doris graduated from Lufkin High School in 1948 and attended Stephen F. Austin State University. She married Tom Tatum in 1949 and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Doris was a follower of Jesus Christ and spent a lifetime loving and serving others. She was a charter member of Christ Congregational Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Jane Fischer Medlin and husband Mike; grandsons and their wives, Austin and Allison Fischer, Adam and Nicole Fischer, and Matthew Tatum; great-grandsons, Wyatt Thomas Fischer and Samuel Tatum; and sister-in-law, Mary Jule Tatum. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tom Tatum; and son, Tom Tatum, Jr.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones at the church immediately following the service.
