Lee Roy Harvey

Funeral services for Lee Roy Harvey, 86, of Houston will be held Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Oak Forest Baptist Church, 1700 West 43rd Street, Houston, with Dr. Richard Walters officiating. Military honors will be presented by the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home, Lufkin.

Mr. Harvey was born November 10, 1929 in Lufkin, Texas to Bernice (Smithhart) Harvey Mott and Sterling “Peck” Harvey, and passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 8, 2016 after a long fought battle with cancer.

Mr. Harvey was raised in Lufkin, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was of strong Baptist faith and enjoyed being with his brothers and sisters in Christ at Oak Forest Baptist Church as often as he could. Mr. Harvey was a hard worker in every profession he held, always a sharp dressed gentleman, a great story teller, and a fan of old western cowboy movies. He was a man full of charm, laughter, and love, which he extended to everyone as he encountered in his life.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Madlynn Harvey; daughter, Rhonda Harvey; daughter-in-law, Debbie Harvey; granddaughters, Amber DeSouge and husband Matthew, Kayla Harvey, and Krystal Axsom; grandson, Scott Reid and wife Rachel; and great-grandchildren, as well as numerous other relatives and friends whose lives he touched.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bernice (Smithhart) Harvey Mott; father, Sterling “Peck” Harvey; son, Randal Allen Harvey; brothers, Bill, Ronny and Donny Harvey; and sister, Bobbie Harvey.

The family wishes to thank Legend Oaks Rehabilitation Center as well as Oak Forest Baptist Church.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning prior to the services.
