Royce Thurman Mccarty, Jr.

Funeral services for Royce Thurman McCarty, Jr., 74, of Lufkin will be held Friday, November 11, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Steven Sanders and Reverend Marlow Shubert officiating. Interment will follow in the Sims (Rocky Hill) Cemetery.

Mr. McCarty was born November 18, 1941 in Shelby County, Texas to the late Angie Loretta (Pate) and Royce Thurman McCarty, Sr., and died Wednesday, November 9, 2016 in a local hospice.

Mr. McCarty had resided in Lufkin since 1964. He graduated from Massey Business College in Nacogdoches and retired from Texas Department of Transportation District Office as the Permit Clerk, following 30 years of employment. Mr. McCarty liked to cook, enjoyed fishing, and loved his family. He was a member of Highway Missionary Baptist Church but attended New Life United Pentecostal Church in Huntington.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Joyce McCarty of Lufkin; sons and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Dede McCarty of Lufkin; Robbie Reppond of Pollok; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Larry Tutt, Sr. of Lufkin; grandchildren, Larry Tutt, Jr. and wife Savannah, Rachel Allen, all of Lufkin, Jennifer Shipman and husband David of Nacogdoches, Matt Hudgins, Mark Hudgins, both of Broaddus, Kaylee McCarty, and Amber McCarty, both of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Dwain Forsythe of Nacogdoches; eight grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Larry Tutt, Jr., Mark Hudgins, Matt Hudgins, David Shipman, Keith Davis and Jeff Davis.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lamar Lightfoot, Archie Chapman and Guadalupe Luna.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
