Graveside services for Joe W. Belk, 85, of Huntington will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. in the Cushing Cemetery with Dr. Darryl Smith officiating. Memorial services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Huntington First Baptist Church.
Mr. Belk was born September 22, 1931 in Cushing, Texas to the late Artie (Duckett) and Joseph Floyd Belk, and died Friday, November 4, 2016 in Spring.
Mr. Belk had resided in Huntington for 65 years. He retired from Huntington ISD following 43 years as an Ag Teacher. He was an avid hunter and gun collector, and had a passion for his students and their Ag projects and activities. Mr. Belk had served on the Huntington City Council and was a lifelong member of the Boyd Hunting Club. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Belk of Huntington; son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Kim Belk of The Woodlands; daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Bob Fredericks of Cushing; grandchildren, Marshall Belk, Macy Belk, Marley Belk, Blake Wilcox and wife Emily, Ryan Wilcox and wife Stephanie; great-grandchildren, Jake Wilcox, Briley Wilcox, and Troy Wilcox; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Norman Belk.
Pallbearers will be Dan Townsend, Greg Pirtle, Jeff Pirtle, Brian Belk, George Lowery, and Jeff Hanchey.
Honorary pallbearer will be Sam Pirtle.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Carroway Funeral Home in Huntington.
