Funeral services for Judy Beth Gilmore Hales, 68, of Groveton, will be held Monday, October 24, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jimmy Hedges and Brother Scott Reed officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Zion Cemetery in Trinity County. Visitation will be on Sunday, October 23, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Carroway Funeral Home. Judy began her life on July 28, 1948, in Houston County, Texas; born to Rayford “Buck” and Lucille (Stepleton) Gilmore. Freed from her pain and claiming her victory over cancer, she accepted her invitation to join our Heavenly Father on October 21, 2016, at her home in Alabama Creek in Trinity County. Judy, a retired Temple-Inland employee, was a native of East Texas. After graduating from Groveton High School, she spent her life in Lufkin before retiring to her husband’s ancestral home-place. She was also an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church congregation and Willing Workers Sunday School class in Lufkin. Judy is survived by her husband of 48 years, George Micho Hales of Groveton, and her son, Gregory Micho Hales and his family of Houston. She is also survived by her sisters, La Jean Fredricksen of The Woodlands, Patricia Casper and her husband Sherman of Huntington, and Jo Nell Smith and her husband Roy of Huntsville; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. Preceding her in death were her parents and her brothers, James Ray Gilmore and Joe Edd Gilmore. Judy’s family would like to thank Hospice in the Pines for the caring and loving support they provided during the months leading to her passing.
