Betty Joyce Barton Due, 86, of Lufkin died Wednesday, October 12, 2016 in a local hospice facility. She was born December 5, 1929 in Apple Springs, Texas, the daughter of Myrtie (Roach) Barton and Garrett Avery Barton.
Mrs. Due was a retired elementary school secretary for Lufkin ISD, serving at Kurth and Anderson Elementary Schools for nearly 30 years. Her “hobby” was caring for and loving everybody, and she was the most loving, gracious and giving person. Mrs. Due enjoyed cooking and fishing, and she wished everyday could be Christmas.
Survivors include her son, Roy Michael Due of Las Vegas, Nevada; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Sherri Due of Rockwall; granddaughters, Avery Caroline Due and Chandler Elizabeth Due, both of Rockwall; sister-in-law, Mildred Barton of Lumberton; niece and husband, Linda and Alan Moore of Batesville, Arkansas; niece, Cheryl Negrete of Lufkin; niece and husband, Marsha and David Bradford of Lufkin; nephew and wife, Gene and Liz Barton of Batesville, Arkansas; nephew, Mark Barton of Lufkin; nephew and wife, Neal and Renee Barton, Jr. of Tyler; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Due was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Leland “Bud” Due in 2004; brother, Lee Barton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lewey and Elaine Barton, Fred and Florence Barton; brother, Neal Barton, Sr.; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and J.R. McClain; and nephew, Jimmy McClain.
