Jo Ann Windsor Linscombe

Funeral services for Jo Ann Windsor Linscombe, 80, of Zavalla, will be held Sunday, September 18, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Brother Larry Innerarity officiating. Interment will be on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Restwood Cemetery in Clute, Texas.

Mrs. Linscombe was born March 5, 1936, in Normangee, Texas, to the late Elma Buna (Ferris) and Bill Windsor. She died Thursday, September 15, 2016 at her residence, surrounded by family and friends.

A former 30-year resident of Brazoria, Texas, Mrs. Linscombe worked as a cashier/checker for Recks Grocery in Clute. She had also worked with the mentally-challenged at a home for special adults as a cook and assistant house parent. She enjoyed fishing and bluegrass music and, along with her husband, attended bluegrass festivals all over Texas. Her passion was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She and her husband were members of the Dow Employees Fishing Club, where they served as caretakers for 8 years, and members of the Brazoria County Bluegrass Association for many years. About 12 years ago, they retired and moved to East Texas. She was currently a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church near Zavalla.

Survivors include her husband, Lester “Zero” Linscombe of Zavalla; her siblings and their spouses, Marie and Leon Lindley of DeSoto, Glenda and Tom Jones of Georgetown, Buddy Windsor of Zavalla, Kenneth and Bonnie Windsor of Llano, and Jeannie and Dwight Barrett of Brazoria; her children, Judy Mosqueda, John Blair, and Eva Blair, all of Brazoria; daughter-in-law, Cindy Blair of Oyster Creek; special nephew, Bobby Linscombe; special friend, Pam Lyster; grandchildren, Matt Mosqueda, Margaret Canizaro, Raymond Fabacher, Stephanie Truitt, Cody Bernstein, and Lili Vickery; fourteen great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mrs. Linscombe was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bruce Windsor; sons, Bobby Blair and James Blair; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Windsor and Ruth Windsor; son-in-law, Tony Mosqueda; and grandchildren, Tony Mosqueda and Joni Mosqueda.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Linscombe, Lester Linscombe II., Matt Mosqueda, Cody Bernstein, Andre Denais, and Theron Linscombe. Honorary pallbearers will be Clint Windsor and Timothy Mosqueda.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 212 Gene Samford Dr., Lufkin, TX 75904; to Harbor Hospice, 517 Gaslight Blvd., Lufkin, TX 75904; or to Sulphur Springs Baptist Church Building Fund, 2012 FM 1270, Zavalla, TX 75980.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in Huntington prior to the service.
