Lettie H. Morgan

Lettie H. Morgan was born October 16, 1930 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Albert and Hattie Hazel. She died September 5, 2016 in a nursing facility in Lufkin, Texas.

Mrs. Morgan graduated from Shreveport’s Byrd High School, where she excelled at basketball and academics. She loved playing the piano and played for her church on numerous occasions. She completed one year at East Texas Baptist College in Marshall, Texas, where she met her husband of 66 years, Dr. Bill C. Morgan.

Bill and Lettie moved to Dallas, Texas in 1952 and remained there for over 50 years. Mrs. Morgan worked as an administrative assistant to a Dallas architect for five years prior to having four children. She was a devoted homemaker, wife and mother. She was active in her local PTA for many years, serving in leadership positions including president of the PTA. She loved home decorating and hosting social gatherings. She also loved sewing and became an accomplished seamstress. After her children were raised, she successfully operated a window treatment and custom drapery business from her home. She was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church in Dallas for many years. She was recognized for her dedication as a long-term volunteer for her local blood bank in Dallas. In recent years Bill and Lettie resided in Lufkin, Texas to be closer to family, where she enjoyed seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Hattie Hazel; husband, Dr. Bill C. Morgan; son, Casey Morgan; and son-in-law, Mark A. Sutton.

She is survived by her daughters, Juanda Morgan and Claudia Morgan; son, Kelly Morgan and wife Marla; granddaughters, Krista Mendez and husband Gabriel, Lacey Ferguson and husband Keith, and Meghan Sutton; great-grandchildren, Landon, Ava, Isaiah, Milo, and Max; nephews, David Hazel and Ronnie Hazel; and brother-in-law, Pastor Glenn Morgan and wife Dot, their children Susan, Joy, and Glenda, as well as their families.

Mrs. Morgan will be remembered for her humor, intelligence, strength, gracious style, loyalty and love.

Mrs. Morgan’s ashes will be scattered with those of her husband at a private service in Dallas, Texas.

The family wishes to extend appreciation to the staff of Castle Pines and Hospice in the Pines for their excellent care and support.
