Lucy Jane Evans Blackburn

Funeral services for Lucy Jane Evans Blackburn, 75, of Lufkin, will be held Sunday, September 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Ron Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Newman Cemetery.

Mrs. Blackburn was born May 21, 1941 in Woodville, Texas to the late F. B. McBryde and Lorraine (Stanley) McBryde, and died Thursday, September 1, 2016 at her residence.

Mrs. Blackburn had resided in Lufkin for 35 years and was a Real Estate Agent with Angelina Realty for 15 years. She enjoyed fishing, sewing, listening to music, and spending time with family. Mrs. Blackburn was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Bobby G. Evans of Colmesneil and J.R. and Tina Blackburn of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Terry Willis of Silsbee, Gina Kay and Juan Mendez of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Shana and Richard Murphy of Denton; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Connie (Blackburn) and Dale Quine of Alto; twenty-one grandchildren including granddaughter, Tammy Willis of Spurger; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Burtie and Steve Rynearson of Indiana and Winnie and Jim Davis of Marshall; niece, Andrea Rodriguez and husband Junior of Fort Riley, Kansas; close friends, Willie and Sharon Jerrell; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marshall Ray “Sonny” Blackburn, Sr.; and sisters, Shirley Jo Henning and Peggy Ruth Davis.

Pallbearers will be Greg Willis, Terrance Willis, Tyler Murphy, Ian Murphy, Luke Murphy, Walker Evans, David Juelfs, Dillion Juelfs, and Joseph Pitts.

Honorary pallbearers will be Willie Jerrell, Sam Murphy, Dylan Ray Blackburn, Sonny Ray Blackburn, Jason Daniel Blackburn, and Fred “Lingo” Sanford.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rivercrest/Redland Volunteer Fire Department, 389 Powder River Road, Lufkin, Texas 75901.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
