Funeral services for Agnes C. "Dink" Smith, 78, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Philip Moore and Reverend Dock Lazarine officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery. Mrs. Smith was born February 17, 1938 in Zavalla, Texas to the late M. D. Durham and Inez (Poulan) Durham, and died Saturday, August 27, 2016 in a local hospital. Mrs. Smith had resided in Lufkin for more than 40 years. She taught Art at Corrigan ISD for 19 years and Hudson ISD for 11 years. She taught summer art camps at the Museum of East Texas. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Community Band, where she played the flute. She enjoyed painting, music, and antique shopping. Mrs. Smith was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lufkin. Survivors include her husband, J.T. Smith of Lufkin; daughter, Beverly Komakowski of Zavalla; son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Melody Smith of Huntington; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sister, Melba Langston of Longview; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Pallbearers will be Koyte Smith, Rual Eric Smith, Roane Smith, Mark Langston, Cliff Boulware, Kade Moore, Kane Moore, and Jakob Smith. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
