John Elroy "Roy" Guidry

Graveside services with military honors for John Elroy “Roy” Guidry, 93, of Lufkin will be held Monday, August 29, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Aldredge Cemetery with Pastor Scott Reed officiating.

Mr. Guidry was born February 20, 1923 in Cow Island, Louisiana, and died Saturday, August 27, 2016 at his residence.

Mr. Guidry, who resided in Zavalla most of his life, had lived in Lufkin since 2007. He served in the U.S. Navy and retired from the Texaco Oil Refinery in Port Arthur. He enjoyed playing 42 at the Angelina County Senior Citizens Center. Mr. Guidry was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lufkin.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Nicar Guidry of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Howard and Dwana Guidry of Lufkin; daughter, Claudia Gossett of Zavalla; stepsons and daughter-in-law, Jamie and Laura Nicar of Magnolia and Kelly Nicar of Lufkin; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
