Alma Lucille Phillips

Funeral services for Alma Lucille (Coburn) Phillips, 82, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, August 21, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Ken Donahue officiating. Interment will follow in the Rocky Springs/Old Center Cemetery. Mrs. Phillips was born April 22, 1934 in Huntington, Texas to the late Floyce and Alma Myrl (Goode) Coburn and died Friday, August 19, 2016 in Lufkin, Texas. Mrs. Phillips was a lifelong resident of Lufkin. She was a homemaker and a very active member of the VFW Post 1836 Ladies Auxiliary as well as Little Flock Baptist Church. She was well known for her cooking, especially her chocolate pies and pickles. She enjoyed being outside in the garden or fishing. Her favorite thing to do was spending time with her family and making memories with her grandchildren. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Janey Phillips of Huntington; son, Floyce Phillips of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Glenda Phillips of Huntington; daughter, Teresa McQuilkin of Huntington; son, Randall Phillips of Huntington; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Patricia Berry of Lufkin; special friend, Zelma Smith of Lufkin; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by parents and husband of 20 years, Lyndell Phillips. Pallbearers will be Lance Phillips, Travis Phillips, Mark Phillips, Luke Phillips, Caleb Phillips, and Shane McQuilkin. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VFW Post 1836 Ladies Auxiliary, 1800 Ford Chapel Rd, Lufkin, Texas 75901. The family would like to give special thanks to her caregivers, LaShonn Greer and Felicia Patton, for their loving care and companionship of their mother. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
