Virginia Norris

Graveside services for Virginia Norris, 72, of Diboll will be held Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Prairie Grove Cemetery with Brother Kenny Hibbs officiating.

Mrs. Norris was born March 4, 1944 in Diboll, Texas to the late Joe and Eunice (Courtney) Mettlen, and died Sunday, August 14, 2016 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Norris was a lifetime resident of Diboll. She retired from Diboll ISD, where she worked in the cafeteria. She was known for making baby quilts. Mrs. Norris was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Russell Skoug, Darlene and Freddy Hensley, all of Diboll, and Patsy and Paul Brown of Celina; grandchildren and their spouses, Sabrina and Randy Sanford of Porter, Meagan and Spencer Habluetzel of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Maddie Brown of Celina, Jamey and Rhonda Skoug, Chris and Kaleigh Hensley, all of Diboll, and Garrett Brown of Celina; great-granddaughters, Mallory Skoug, Kaitlyn Skoug, both of Diboll, Addyson Sanford of Porter, and Gracie Hensley of Diboll; great-grandson expected September 1, Jonathan Troy Sanford; sister, Katie Pitman of Diboll; special friends, Christene Mettlen, Ida Wagnone, and Pauline Graham, all of Diboll; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 41 years, Willie Norris; sisters, Anna Bell McCarthy, Jo Ann Mettlen, Joyce Culver, Etta Jennings, and Elizabeth Miranda; and brother, Cecil Mettlen.

Pallbearers will be Jamey Skoug, Chris Hensley, Garrett Brown, Spencer Habluetzel, Paul Brown, and Freddy Hensley.

The family extends special thanks to Dr. Karl Krohn, Dr. Kyle Krohn, Dr. Reddy and the nursing staff of East Texas Oncology, and the nursing and physical therapy staff of Memorial Homecare.
