Sallie Evelyn Gilcrease

Funeral services for Sallie Evelyn Gilcrease, 79, of Huntington will be held Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Brother Calvin Kersh and James McKenzie officiating. Interment will follow in the Tom Havard Cemetery.

Mrs. Gilcrease was born November 7, 1936 in Angelina County, Texas to the late Leroy and Clara (Calhoun) Dykes, and died Wednesday, July 27, 2016 in Lufkin, Texas.

Mrs. Gilcrease had resided in Angelina County most of her life. She was a waitress at various restaurants in the community. She enjoyed spending time with her family and also fishing, hunting, gardening and shopping at Wal-Mart, Kmart, and Sam’s Club. Her favorite dance was The Waltz which she enjoyed dancing to. Mrs. Gilcrease was a member of Saron Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Cynthia Treadway and Garry and Stephanie Treadway, all of Zavalla; daughter, Phyllis Haight of Marshall; granddaughters, Ashley Renee Treadway and Delayna Harper, both of Zavalla and Kaitlynn Haight and Patricia Haight, both of Marshall; grandson, Devin Harper of Zavalla; great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Haight of Marshall; father-in-law, John Gilcrease of Zavalla; numerous other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry Gilcrease; brothers, Robert Lee Dykes and William Pierce Dykes; and sister, Ruby Amanda Richardson.

Pallbearers will be Gradon Courtney, Jess Whitehurst, Calton Whitehurst, Devin Harper, Richard Lopez and Aaron Oliver.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Gilcrease, Richard Havard, Claude Elroy Hamilton and Gerald Walker.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
