Memorial services for Jimmie B. “Jim” Hodges, 74, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Mike Curry officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.
Mr. Hodges was born January 9, 1942 in Harris County, Texas to the late Hulen and Mayfair (Rogers) Hodges and died Saturday, July 23, 2016 in Lufkin, Texas.
Mr. Hodges served in the United States Air Force and later obtained a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice and began a career in Law Enforcement. He was employed with the Angelina County Sheriff’s Office for 30 years. Mr. Hodges enjoyed fishing, hunting, and riding motorcycles with his friends. He was a Master Mason of the Grand Lodge in downtown Houston and a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Lufkin.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Marjorie (Miles) Hodges of Lufkin; stepchildren, Druey Stanley, Jr. and Amy Newton, both of Lufkin; granddaughters, Nikki Williams, the love of his life, of Lufkin and Kelli Joe Newton of Diboll; mother-in-law, Velia Collier of Zavalla; brothers-in-law, Jim Miles of Lufkin, Robert Miles of Wasille, Alaska and Thomas Collier of Zavalla; sister-in-law, Belinda Miles of Lufkin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandmother, Martha Marie McCormick.
