Iva Mclain Clifton

Funeral services for Iva McLain Clifton, 89, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Steve Cowart officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. in the Bethel Cemetery in Appleby. Mrs. Clifton, affectionately known as “Meme”, was born May 15, 1927 in Appleby, Texas to the late James “Jim” McLain and Nannie (Miller) McLain, and died Sunday, July 17, 2016 in a local nursing home. Mrs. Clifton had resided in Lufkin for 50 years, and worked as a beauty operator for 40 years. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and the Jolly Seniors Sunday school class. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Roland Brown of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Debbie Clifton of Huntington; grandchildren and their spouses, Christi and David Flowers, Callie and Mark Hicks, Josh and Christy Clifton, John Clifton and fiancée Stormi Pressley, and Emily and Mark Leeder; great-grandchildren, Caroline, Macy, and Aniston Hicks, Cash, Cadyn, Kaylee, and Kaitlyn Clifton, Declan and Kaelyn Leeder; sisters, Earline Jacobs, Ruby Skeeters, and Dorothy Skeeters, all of Nacogdoches; brother, James McLain of Nacogdoches; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walker B. Clifton; brother, Homer Lee McLain; brother and sister-in-law, Charlie and Lou Etta McLain; sister-in-law, Patsy McLain; brothers-in-law, Bill Skeeters, Jimmy Skeeters and Worth Jacobs; and nephews, Craig McLain and Sevon Skeeters. Pallbearers will be Randy McLain, Mike Skeeters, Bob Skeeters, Mark Skeeters, Charlie Wayne McLain, and Roy May. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Jacobs, Sandy Skeeters, Dudley May, and Daniel May. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 2909 E. Lufkin Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75901. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
