Funeral services for Yvonne Howell, 81, of Lufkin will be held Monday, July 11, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jerome Brimmage and Reverend Vicky Paul officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery. Mrs. Howell was born April 3, 1935 in Angelina County, Texas to the late Jewel Harrison and Augusta (Garrett) Simms and died Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the Southland Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. Mrs. Howell retired from Champion Paper where she was employed in the Accounts Payable Department. She, along with her husband Fred, enjoyed traveling together, fishing and square dancing. She loved gardening and planting flowers and painted in her spare time. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she often would sew gowns for them. Mrs. Howell was a member of the Good Sam’s Club, the Nifty Fifties’ Club and a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Dwayne and Ramona Howell of Lufkin and Larry and Judi Howell of Holliday; grandchildren, Amanda and Eric Miears of Cypress, Shannon and Kevin Jefferson of Spring, Lauren and Matt Brazil of Lufkin, Jay and Megan Leclaire of Lufkin, Travis and Christine Howell of Little Elm and Alli Howell of Krum; great-grandchildren, Madison Miears of Cypress, Nathan Miears of Cypress, Paige Brazil of Lufkin, Logan Howell of Little Elm, Claire Brazil of Lufkin, Aubrey Leclaire of Lufkin; Paislee Howell of Little Elm, Emma Brazil of Lufkin, Avery Leclaire of Lufkin, and Sawyer Jefferson of Spring; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Jackie Simms of Pollok and Jimmy and Doris Simms in Hudson; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Spencer Selman of Lufkin; along with many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Howell; brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Joyce Simms. Pallbearers will be Eric Miears, Kevin Jefferson, Matt Brazil, Travis Howell, Jay Leclaire and Chris Hoedebeck. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Nifty Fifties’ Club, Josh McCarty and Nathan Miears. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 304 N. Raguet St # C, Lufkin, Texas 75904 or the Salvation Army Adult Day Care Center, 305 Shands Dr, Lufkin, Texas 75904. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
