Charles Ray Baker

Funeral services for Charles Ray Baker, 72, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Ronnie Frankens, Brother Jess Slider, and Brother Myrton Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery. Mr. Baker was born November 29, 1943 in Moscow, Texas to the late Johnny David Baker and Ada Emma Evalina (Meeks) Baker, and died Sunday, July 3, 2016 in a local hospital. Mr. Baker had resided in Lufkin most of his life. He served in the Texas National Guard and had worked for both the City of Lufkin and the City of Nacogdoches. Mr. Baker was known as the “Mower Man” in Clawson. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family, who he loved very much. He was known for reminiscing. Survivors include his wife, Eva Baker of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Jay Selle of Lufkin and Vicki and Philip Currie of Hudson; son and daughter-in-law, James and Stacy Baker of Bryan; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Nola Evans of Lufkin; and a number of nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Franklin Baker; parents-in-law, Rev. B.L. and Eunice West; and brother-in-law, Barney “Buddy” West. Pallbearers will be Kevin Rash, Dustin Rash, Tony Voss, Joe Thompson, Michael McKnight, and Val Hernandez. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Hernandez, Rene Sandoval, and Genaro DéJesus. The family extends special thanks to Jessica Waters and Heart to Heart Hospice for their compassionate care. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Wednesday morning prior to the services.
