Greg H. Back

Graveside services with military honors for Greg H. Back, 65, of Huntington will be held Monday, July 4, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Treadwell Cemetery.

Mr. Back was born July 27, 1950 in Houston, Texas to the late George Henry Back and Virginia Mae (Jones) Back Sumrall, and died Friday, July 1, 2016 in a local nursing home.

Mr. Back resided in Huntington most of his life. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam. He was a decorated veteran, having received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Cross of Gallantry with Palm, and he was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Mr. Back was employed with Motion Industries in the Shipping Department. He loved Nascar and enjoyed racing his El Camino.

Survivors include his son, Casey Jones of Huntington; sisters, Rebecca Oliver of Lufkin and Donna Alsbrooks and husband Steve of Hudson; brother, Arthur Back and wife Brenda of Huntington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Back; mother, Virginia “Virgie” Sumrall; stepfather, Jack Sumrall; brother, Glen Back; and sister, Linda Walker.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home in Huntington.
