Leah Faye (Richardson) Rudd

Funeral services for Leah Faye Richardson Rudd, 81, of Lufkin will be held Monday, June 27, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John W. Greene officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Mrs. Rudd was born March 1, 1935 in Crockett, Texas to the late Della Mae (Graham) and Lee Richardson and died Friday, June 24, 2016 at the Pinecrest Retirement Community in Lufkin, Texas. Mrs. Rudd grew up in Crockett, Texas, graduating from Glover High School in 1953. She married Weldon Eugene (Gene) Rudd on February 6, 1960. The couple made their home in Crockett and Nacogdoches before settling in Lufkin in 1977. Mrs. Rudd worked in the Business Office of the Nacogdoches Independent School District for many years before retirement. She was a member of Harmony Hill Baptist Church where she also was a member of the Heaven Bound Sunday School Class. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend; she will be dearly missed by those who knew her. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Weldon Eugene (Gene) Rudd; son and daughter-in-law, Kit and Sharon Rudd of Warrenton, Virginia; daughter and son-in-law, Cinda and Randall Taylor of Lufkin; sister, Betty Jean Richardson of Crockett; granddaughters, Jade Rudd of Miami, Florida and Mollie Taylor of Lufkin; grandson, Wes Taylor of Lufkin; sister-in-law, Norma Jean Rudd of Center; numerous nieces, great nieces, great nephews and other family members. She was preceded in death by her loving parents. Pallbearers will be Lyle Carpenter, Don Weir, Micheal Willingham, Medford Havard, Jerry Sizemore, Roland McGee, Wesley Taylor and Robert L. Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Heaven Bound Sunday School Class of Harmony Hill. The family would like to thank the loving and caring staff of Pinecrest Retirement Community and also the many sitters that cared for her like their own. The family request that memorials be sent to the Harmony Hill Baptist Church, 2708 S. Chestnut St., Lufkin, Texas 75901; Alzheimer’s Association, 304 N. Raguet St. #C, Lufkin, Texas 75904; or charity of your choice. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
