Jase T. Runnels

Jase Thomas “JT” Runnels, 89, of Lufkin died Thursday, June 23, 2016 in Lufkin. Graveside services are to be on June 25, 2016 at 10 am at Runnels Cemetery in Broaddus. A memorial service will follow at 4 pm at Carroway Funeral Home in Lufkin.

Mr. Runnels was born September 18, 1926 in Broaddus, Texas to the late Jase and Mary (Bentley) Runnels. Mr. Runnels was a retired insurance broker and real estate agent. Although he resided in Lufkin, he always considered the San Augustine/Broaddus area as home. Mr. Runnels was a Jehovah’s Witness serving as an elder up until his death. He instilled his strong faith and love of Jehovah into his family and spoke of his beliefs with many.

Jase Thomas Runnels was survived by his wife: Joy Runnels; his children and their spouses: Jack and Teri Runnels of Henderson, Jimmy and Linda Runnels of Lufkin, and MaryAnn and Roger Ingram of Florida; eight grandkids: Rachele and Erick Koenig, Gordon Runnels, Brian Runnels, Allison Runnels, Karen and Wesley Phillips, Erica and Nathan Humphreys, Laura and Nick Reed, and Joshua Ingram. He was also survived by 11 great grandkids, and one great great grandkid on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jase and Mary Runnels; brothers Curtis Runnels and John L. Runnels; and sister Dolly Parker.
