Billy “Bill” Black, 87, of Lufkin died Monday, June 20, 2016 in Livingston. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Mr. Black was born April 1, 1929 in Sulphur Bluff, Texas to the late Ralph J. and Stellean (Baugh) Black. Formerly of Gilmer, he had resided in Lufkin for three years. Mr. Black served in the U.S. Army and retired from Asplund Tree Service. He ran the Green Dairy Farm for 10 years. Mr. Black was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his daughters, Vicki Savage of Livingston, Genia Browning, Mary Black and Sandy Pope, all of Caddo Mills; sons, Billy Black, Jr. of Carthage and Jerry Black of Lufkin; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; brothers, Charles Black of Van, David Black, John Black, both of Mabank, Jimmy Black of Dallas, and Robert Black of Plano; sister, Rosemary Cox of Dallas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Betty Ruth (Darnell) Black.
