Godfrey Shyler Headrick

Graveside services for Godfrey Shyler Headrick, 87, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at 3:30 p.m. in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park with Pastor Jeff Headrick and Reverend Simon Purvis officiating.

Mr. Headrick was born March 16, 1929 in Groveton, Texas to the late James Edward and Addie Mae (Shatto) Headrick and died Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at the Joseph House in Lufkin.

Mr. Headrick was a lifelong resident of Lufkin. He retired as a Lab Technician from Champion Paper after 45 years. He was a member of Faith Alive Church in San Augustine, Texas; which he loved. Mr. Headrick was a faithful and dependable man who put his family first. He was an avid Lufkin Panther fan who attended every game and was known by all; He enjoyed sports of any kind. After retirement, Mr. Headrick became an integral part of the daily routine of Noah’s Ark Daycare where his daughter is the owner. All the children from the daycare knew him as “PaPaw”.

Survivors include his wife, Maurine Headrick of Lufkin; daughter, Beverly Drake and husband Darrell; son, Jeff Headrick and wife Dena; granddaughter, Bethany Oliver and husband Tommy; grandson, Marcus Drake, all of Lufkin; granddaughters, Elizabeth Headrick and Katelyn Headrick, both of Lufkin; great-grandchildren, Graham Oliver and Hadley Oliver; sister, Lucille Jones of Galveston, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
