Graveside services for Ernest E. “Tooter” Camp, 72, of Diboll will be held Friday, June 10, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in the Ryan Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Camp was born August 23, 1943 in Texas City, Texas and passed away peacefully at his home in Diboll Wednesday, June 8, 2016, while surrounded by family.
Mr. Camp was married to his wife, Barbara Camp for 31 years. He was a graduate of Diboll High School. Mr. Camp worked for Temple-Inland for over 30 years as a Forester until his retirement. Mr. Camp, also known affectionately as “PawPaw” to countless children in Angelina County who attended Kiddie Korral Day Care Center, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Camp, loved spending time with his grand kids and great-grand kids, in addition to hunting and fishing. Mr. Camp enjoyed serving for a number of years as a little league baseball umpire as well as Commissioner of the Diboll Dixie Youth Baseball Association.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Camp; daughter, Angie Camp; sons and daughters-in-law, Warner and Amanda Camp, Phillip and Laura Camp and Chris and Christel Wells; son, Chad Camp; grandchildren, Jason Camp, Meagan Campbell, Walker Camp, Presley Wells and Kennedy Wells; great-grandchildren, Garrett Camp and Raylan Camp; sister, DeeDee Groom; sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Gail Nelson and Billie June and Clarence Shepherd; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Lisa Warner.
He was preceded in death by his parents M.L. “Monk” and Gladys Warner; brothers, Clifford Camp and Jim Camp.
Honorary pallbearers will be Scott McDonald, Sherrel Fears, Bo Smith Sr., Bo Smith Jr., Tommy Harris, Marty Harris, Jason Camp and Rich Warner.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice, 209 Christie St., Lufkin, Texas 75904 or American Cancer Society, 212 Gene Samford Dr., Lufkin, Texas 75904.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
