James K. Conner

Funeral services for James K. Conner, 71 of Lufkin will be held Sunday, June 5, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with David Sullivan officiating. The eulogy will be given by Laura Parrish. Interment will follow in the Fielder Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Conner was born August 8, 1944 in the Ora Community of Angelina County, Texas to the late C.K. and Nina (Bass) Conner. He passed away Friday, June 3, 2016 in a local nursing home. Mr. Conner married his best friend, Helen Conner, February 20, 1965. They resided at their home in the Bald Hill Community. He served his country in the U.S. Army from October 1966 to September 1968, including a 7 1/2 month tour in Vietnam. Mr. Conner retired from TXU Communications in April 2000, after 31 years of service. Mr. Conner enjoyed constructing houses, old cars, fishing, hunting, and most of all his family. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. Mr. Conner will be missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Helen Conner; daughter and son-in-law, Renae and Will Ratcliff; son and daughter-in-law, Clint and Brianne Conner; grandsons, Jesse Lynn Buckley, Carson James Conner, Carter Jeff Conner, and Connor Ratcliff; granddaughter, Kassidy Ratcliff; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Burl Wood; special cousin, Lucy Conner; special friend, Koochie Carlisle; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, C.K. and Nina (Bass) Conner. Pallbearers will be Robert Pope, Scott Stanford, Caleb Stanford, Charles Frankens, Blake Cook and Will Cook.
