Funeral services for James Wilson “Bud” Steveson, 79, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Charles M. Roberts officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Mr. Steveson was born November 16, 1936 in Conroe, Texas to the late James Robert and Dovie Mae (Parker) Steveson, and died peacefully with his family at his side Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at his residence. Mr. Steveson resided in Lufkin most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from Champion Paper Mill following 25 years of employment. Mr. Steveson was a member of Denman Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jo Ann Steveson of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Sammy and Anita Steveson of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Lee Ann and Joe Davis, Jr. of Lufkin; grandson, Jamie Steveson; as Poppie said, “one very special granddaughter”, Callie Jo Davis; step-grandchildren, Joseph, Heather, Jon, Shelly, Ashley and Matthew; brother and sister-in-law, John and Carolyn Steveson of Maryland; sisters-in-law, Kathy Steveson of Henderson and Elaine Steveson of Central; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-grandson, Leslie; three brothers; and three sisters. Memorial contributions may be made to the Denman Avenue Baptist Church Scholarship Funds, P.O. Box 1351, Lufkin, Texas 75902. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
