Tom L. Hipps, Sr.

Graveside services for Tom L. Hipps, Sr., 84, of Kerrville, Texas will be held Sunday, May 29, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Tom Havard Cemetery in Zavalla with Brother Dennis Davis officiating.

Mr. Hipps was born June 12, 1931 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Marion C. Hipps and Lola (Hawkins) Hipps and died Friday, May 27, 2016 at his residence.

Mr. Hipps, former resident of Lufkin, had resided in Kerrville for the past twenty years. He served his country in the United States Air Force and for many years was a Mason 32nd degree. Mr. Hipps had over 40 years in the grocery industry in distribution. After retirement, Mr. Hipps was actively involved with helping children through the Methodist Home Foster Parent Program. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his daughters, Yvonne Woltner with her husband Hal of Vermont, Vicki Jarkowski of Michigan, Terri Hipps Harris with her husband Chester of Texas, and Karen Smith with her husband Dennis also of Texas; son, Eric Woods with his wife Rie of Texas; 15 grandchildren, Jason Harris, Stephanie Davis, Brandon Harris, Kathryn Dover, Aaron Woltner, Stormie Woltner, Kaysi Stubblefield, Misti Gillen, Timothy Gillen, Justin Gillen, Richard L. Hipps, Samantha Kim, Chelsie Sawyer, Terri Cole, Bryan Smith and Bart Riley; 23 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred G. Hipps in 2001; second wife, Jean Byrd in 2011; son, Tom L. Hipps, Jr. in 2010.
